ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Human flora

Okay, so you know how a garden has flowers and bugs and worms and all kinds of things living in it? Well, your body is kind of like a garden too. But instead of flowers, you have tiny living things called bacteria all over you!

These bacteria are called "human flora" and they live in different parts of your body like your skin, mouth, gut, and even in your nose! They are so small that you can't see them without a microscope.

Now, some of these bacteria might sound scary because we hear a lot about germs and getting sick, but many of them are actually very helpful! They help us digest our food, fight off bad bacteria, and even keep our skin healthy.

Just like a garden needs a good balance of different types of plants and bugs to stay healthy, our body needs a good balance of different types of bacteria. So, it's important to take care of ourselves by washing our hands, eating healthy foods, and getting enough sleep.
