Hydrocyclone

A hydrocyclone is like a big funnel that separates things based on how heavy they are. Imagine you have a big bag of marbles, but some are heavy and some are light. You dump all the marbles into the funnel and turn on the water, which spins around really fast.

The heavy marbles sink to the bottom and get caught in a little bucket at the bottom of the funnel, while the light marbles spin around and eventually get pushed out the top of the funnel.

The hydrocyclone is kind of like that funnel, but instead of marbles it separates things like sand and water or oil and gas, depending on how heavy each one is. This helps us clean up things like oil spills or separate minerals from rocks when mining. Pretty cool, huh?
