Hypernatremia

Hey kiddo! Do you know what sodium is? It's a mineral that's found in salt and many other foods we eat. Our body needs sodium to help us stay healthy, but too much of it can be a bad thing.

Now, imagine you're playing with a ball and you need to put air into it to make it bouncy. Your body needs to balance the amount of water and sodium in it to work properly - this is like adding the right amount of air to the ball. When there's too much sodium and not enough water in your body, it's called hypernatremia.

Think of it as if your body has too much salt and not enough water to balance it out - this is like not having enough air in the ball. Some causes of hypernatremia can be not drinking enough water or losing too much water through sweating. When your body has hypernatremia, it can make you feel thirsty, dizzy, and even make your brain not work properly.

That's why it's important to always drink enough water and keep your body hydrated. Just like how you need to keep adding air to the ball to keep it bouncy!
