I2P stands for "Invisible internet Project" and it is an anonymous network, meaning that it hides the identity of the people who are using it. It does this by routing web traffic and messages through multiple layers of encryption and "hops"—nodes that re-route the traffic to make it harder to trace. When you browse the web on I2P, your computer sends messages to I2P nodes, which encrypt the messages and send them to other nodes. Each node decrypts and re-encrypts the message until it reaches its destination. This means that no one can see which websites or messages are being sent, so your identity remains hidden.
