ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Public-key cryptography

Public-key cryptography is a way to keep your data safe. It is used when you communicate online and want to keep your information secret. It works by using two different keys (called a public key and a private key) to lock and unlock data, like a lock and key.

The public key is like a lock: it's something you give out to anyone who wants to lock your data for you, so that only you can read it (like a secret password). The private key is like a key: it is only known by you, and you use it to unlock the data someone else has locked. This way, you can keep your data safe, even if someone else has it.
