IDL (programming language)

IDL is a computer programming language designed to help people build software that does things. It is used to write programs (also called "scripts") that can do things like plot data, calculate statistics, and automate tasks. IDL programs are made up of instructions (called "commands") that tell the computer how to do something or what to do next. IDL programs are written in a language similar to English, so it is easier to understand than some other computer programming languages.
