ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

IEC 62700

IEC 62700 is a set of rules created by a group of grown-ups to help keep us kids safe while we play with electronics. It's like a really big instruction manual that tells companies how to make sure their electronic toys don't hurt us or the environment.

You know how you have a toy box to keep your toys organized and safe? Well, the grown-ups have something called a standard that helps them keep their electronics organized and safe too! Just like you have to make sure you put your toys away and don't leave them lying around where someone could trip on them, the grown-ups have to make sure their electronics don't have any parts that could hurt us or the planet.

IEC 62700 also tells companies how to recycle their electronics when we're done playing with them. Just like you can't throw your toys in the garbage when you're done with them, companies can't just throw their electronics in the garbage either. They have to be recycled so they don't hurt the environment.

So, in short, IEC 62700 is like a big instruction manual that keeps us safe while we play with electronics and helps keep the planet safe too!
