Iberian Union

The Iberian Union was a time when Spain and Portugal were ruled by the same king from 1580 to 1640. This happened because King Philip II of Spain married the Portuguese queen, so their countries became one. The Iberian Union is special because it allowed people from both countries to travel, trade, and share their culture and beliefs. Everyone was equal under the same king and could speak, learn, and do things together. The Iberian Union was a great time of growth and learning for both countries.
