Ibn al-Haytham

Ibn al-Haytham was an Arab scientist who lived in the 1000s. He was an important mathematician and astronomer who made discoveries that changed science. He was the first person to understand that light travels in straight lines and that this is what makes things look the way that they do. He also figured out that you can use lenses to bend light, which is why we can make things like glasses and binoculars. He was a pioneer in understanding how vision actually works, which made him an important figure in the history of science.
