Immigration to the United Kingdom

Immigration to the United Kingdom is when people from other countries move to Britain to live there for a long time.

When people want to move to the UK from another country, they need to fill out lots of forms and give the government all sorts of information about themselves. The government then looks at this information and decides if they can move to the UK. Sometimes people come to the UK to work or study, sometimes they come to join their family and sometimes they come to escape bad things in their own country.

The government has rules about who can come and who can't. They want to make sure that people who come to the UK are going to follow the laws and fit into society. If someone doesn't follow the rules after they move to the UK, they might have to leave.

Immigration to the UK has been happening for centuries. People from all over the world have come to Britain over the years to make a new life. The UK is known for being a diverse and multicultural society, which means people from lots of different backgrounds and cultures live together. This makes the UK a really interesting place to live.
