ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Implicit stereotype

An implicit stereotype is someone’s opinion (which could be good or bad) that is based on someone’s race, gender, or other characteristics. It’s “implicit” because you might not always be aware that you're thinking it. It’s like a picture in your head – if you think about a certain type of person, you might have an image of what that person looks like or how they act. That image could be an implicit stereotype. Not all stereotypes are bad, but it’s important to know that what you’re thinking may not always be true.
