In the United Kingdom, people make money by working. This money is called 'income', and it is what people get in return for their work. Most people make their income by working at a job or by owning a business, and this income is usually paid to them on a regular basis, such as weekly, fortnightly or monthly. People don't just get money for doing a job, though - they may also get what is called a salary, which is an agreed amount of money that they are paid for doing their work. Once people have earned enough money, they may be able to save it, which means setting it aside to be used in the future.
