ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Incontinence (philosophy)

Incontinence in philosophy means that a person knows what they ought to do, but they don't do it. It's like when your parents tell you to clean your room, but you'd rather play with toys or watch TV instead. You know you should clean your room, but you don't do it.

For example, let's say you have a big test coming up and you know you should study for it, but you keep procrastinating and doing other things instead. This is being incontinent.

Being incontinent isn't good because it means that you aren't doing what you know you should be doing. It's important to try to be continent and do what we know is the right thing to do, even if it's hard or we don't feel like it.
