ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Incrementalism

Okay kiddo, so incrementalism is when you do something little by little instead of doing it all at once. Have you ever cleaned your room? Instead of cleaning your whole room all at once, you might clean just one part first like your bed, then your toys, and then your clothes. That's incrementalism! It's a way to make big things easier by doing them bit by bit.

Now let's talk about how this works in other areas. Let's say you have a big project for school or work. Instead of trying to do it all in one day, you break it down into smaller pieces and work on it a little bit each day. Each time you finish one piece, you get closer and closer to completing the whole project.

Incrementalism can also be used in politics or government. Let's say there's a big problem that needs to be fixed, like making sure everyone has access to healthcare. The government might not be able to fix everything all at once, so they might make smaller changes over time to get closer and closer to the goal. Each small change is like a step towards solving the bigger problem.

Does that make sense, kiddo? Incrementalism is like taking small steps towards a big goal, instead of trying to do everything at once.
