ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Inequation

An inequation is like a puzzle where we have to compare two things using signs like <, >, ≤ or ≥. We use them when we want to know if one thing is bigger or smaller than the other thing.

For example, if we want to compare the height of two people, we can use an inequation like this:

Person A's height + 5cm > Person B's height

This means that Person A is taller than Person B by at least 5cm.

We can also use inequations to solve problems like "If I have $50 and I want to buy a toy that costs $25, how much money will I have left?" We can write this as:

50 - 25 ≥ 0

This means that we should subtract $25 from $50, and if the answer is greater than or equal to 0, we will have enough money left to buy the toy.

Inequations are useful in many areas of life, such as in economics, physics, and engineering. They help us to compare quantities and measure differences between them.
