ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Infant communion

Infant communion is when a baby is given a small piece of bread and sometimes a sip of wine during a church service. This happens in some Christian churches, like the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church.

The bread and wine are used to remind people of Jesus, who Christians believe is their savior. Christians remember Jesus by eating the bread and drinking the wine during church services. They believe that when they do this, they are sharing in Jesus' life and love.

Some churches believe that even babies can receive this special food and drink. They think that it helps the babies connect with Jesus right from the start of their lives. The bread and wine are sometimes blessed by a priest or minister before they are given to the baby.

It's important to note that not all Christian churches practice infant communion and some have different beliefs about when it is appropriate for someone to partake in communion. Ultimately, It's up to each church to decide what they believe and how they will practice their faith.
