ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Information privilege

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard the saying "knowledge is power?" Well, some people have more knowledge and power than others, and that's what we call information privilege.

Think about it like playing a game. Imagine if there were some players who had a special cheat code or strategy guide that they kept secret from everyone else. Those players would have an advantage, right? They would win more often and have more fun playing the game.

In the same way, some people have access to information that others don't. Maybe they have more money or connections that allow them to go to better schools, or they work in a job where they get to learn valuable skills that other people don't have the opportunity to learn.

Having information privilege can help you get ahead in life, but it's not fair to everyone else who doesn't have access to the same information. That's why we need to work to make sure that everyone has access to the knowledge and resources they need to succeed. It's important to share information and help others who might not have the same opportunities as us.

Remember, just because some people have more information privilege than others, it doesn't mean they're better or smarter. We all have different strengths and things we're good at, and everyone deserves the chance to learn and grow.
