Information rate

Okay kiddo, so let's say you have a toy box and you want to put all your toys in it. You can only put one toy in the box every second. That means it takes you one second to add one toy.

Now let's say you have a book with a lot of pages and you want to read it all. You can read one page every minute. That means it takes you one minute to read one page.

In both of these examples, the amount of information that you can handle in a certain amount of time is called the information rate.

So, the information rate is how much information you can process or transfer in a given amount of time. It can be measured in different units like toys per second or pages per minute or even in bits per second when we are talking about digital information.

When you are using your internet connection, the information rate is how quickly your computer can send and receive information, like when you are downloading a movie or streaming a video. The faster your internet connection, the higher the information rate!
