ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Information theory

Information theory is like a map that helps us understand how messages are sent from one person to another. It shows us how different words or symbols need to be encoded (like putting them in a code) so we can understand them better. It also helps us figure out how to send a message so that it doesn't get mixed up or corrupted when we send it. That way, when the message receiver gets it, they'll be able to understand it the same way it was sent.
