Inner suburb

So, you know that there are different parts of a city or town, right? And some parts are closer to the center, where there are big buildings and lots of stores and things to do, and that's usually called the downtown.

But then there are other parts that are further away from the center, but still not too far away, and those parts are often called the suburbs. The suburbs are usually where people live in houses, and there are parks and schools and stuff like that.

Now, the inner suburbs are the parts of the city or town that are still pretty close to the center, but not right in the middle of everything. They might be a little bit quieter than the downtown, but still have some of the same conveniences like stores and restaurants.

So if you hear someone talking about living in the inner suburbs, it just means they live in a part of town that's not too far from everything, but still has a more neighborhood-y feel to it.
