Innuendo

Innuendo means to make a joke or comment that hints at something else but doesn't say it directly. It is like saying something just under the surface of the conversation but does not make it obvious what you’re talking about. For example, you could tell your friend, "I heard your boss was feeling a little under the weather today," which could be taken to mean that your friend’s boss was feeling nauseous, but it could also mean that they were feeling sad or angry.
