Insect population decline means there are fewer insects than before. This is happening all over the world, and it's happening because of certain things that people are doing. For example, people are using too much pesticide or fertilizer on their crops, and these toxic substances can hurt or even kill many types of insects. People also sometimes cut down too much of the special habitats that insects live in, like forests or natural wetlands. Without these habitats, there are fewer places for insects to live, so the number of insects goes down. We need to do things differently so that insects can stay safe and healthy, and their populations can grow instead of shrink.
