Insect thermoregulation is like when you adjust the heater or air conditioner in your home to make the temperature just right for you. Insects do the same thing to make sure they are not too hot or too cold. When an insect is too hot, it will wiggle its body to cool down or move to a cooler spot. When it’s too cold, it will move to a warmer place or shiver to warm up.
Some insects, like bees and ants, live in groups called colonies. They work together to keep the colony at the right temperature. Bees will fan their wings to cool the hive, and ants will gather in a group to warm each other up.
Insects are like tiny masters of thermoregulation, making sure they stay comfortable and healthy in all kinds of weather.
