Integrated stress response

Have you ever heard of stress? It's when you feel worried or anxious about something. Sometimes your body can feel stressed too, like when you get sick or hurt. When your body feels stressed, it can do something called an integrated stress response.

The integrated stress response is like a superhero power your body has to help protect itself from harmful things. It happens when your cells sense that something is wrong, like a virus or injury. Your cells then send signals to your brain and other parts of your body to start the integrated stress response.

This response helps to keep your body safe by doing things like turning on special proteins called chaperones that help to fix any damage in your cells. It can also stop your body from making more proteins and slow down your metabolism to conserve energy.

So the next time you feel stressed or your body feels stressed, remember that your body is working hard to keep you safe with its very own superpower - the integrated stress response!
