Intercalated Games

Okay kiddo, so imagine you go to a big sports competition where different universities from all over the world come to compete. That's kind of like what the Olympics are, but a long time ago they used to have another competition called the Intercalated Games.

Basically, they would have this special event every four years in between the regular Olympics, kind of like a mini-Olympics. Lots of different sports were played, but they only lasted for a few days instead of the two weeks like the regular Olympics.

They didn't have the Intercalated Games for very long, just a few times around the early 1900s, but it was a way for athletes to keep competing and showing their skills. Nowadays, we just have the regular Olympics every four years and lots of other international sporting events throughout the year.
