ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Internet fraud prevention

Okay kiddo, let's talk about internet fraud prevention! When we use the internet to buy things or share information, sometimes bad people can try to steal our money or personal information. Luckily, there are ways we can protect ourselves from these bad guys!

First, we should always make sure we are on a secure website when we're entering our credit card information. Mom and dad can tell us if a website is secure by looking for a little padlock icon in the address bar or seeing if the web address starts with "https" instead of just "http."

We also need to be careful about giving out our personal information online. We should never give out our full name, address, or phone number to strangers on the internet, and we should always make sure we know exactly who we are giving our information to before we do so.

Another thing we can do is use strong, unique passwords for each of our online accounts. So, if someone does figure out our password for one account, they won't be able to get into all of our other accounts too.

Finally, we can use software or tools called "anti-virus" and "anti-malware" programs to protect our computers and devices from getting infected with viruses or other bad things that could steal our information or harm our devices.

These are just some ways we can protect ourselves from internet fraud, but the most important thing to remember is to always be careful and ask mom and dad for help if we're not sure about something online. Stay safe out there, kiddo!
