ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Interning (computer science)

An intern is like a helper who comes to work with the people who have a job that they want to learn more about. In computer science, that means someone who is learning how to program and work with computers.

The intern gets to watch and learn from the people they work with. They can ask questions and practice doing the things they learn. The people they work with might give them small jobs to do to help them learn even more.

Usually, an intern is still in school or just starting out in their career. They are not paid as much as the regular employees and might only work for a short time, like a few months in the summer.

Interning is a great way to get experience and see if you like working in a certain job. It can also help you make connections in the industry and maybe even get a job offer later on.
