ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Interspecific competition

Interspecific competition is when different species—like different types of plants or animals—try to survive by competing for the same resources. This can happen when two species need the same food, water, living space, or light. For example, if there are two different types of birds living in the same area, and there’s only enough food for one of them to survive, then the two species are competing for that food. The species that better finds and can access the food will survive, while the other will die.
