Intragenomic conflict is when different parts inside a single organism (like genes) are in competition with each other, because they have different goals. For example, one gene may make the organism bigger and stronger, while another makes it smaller and faster. If a creature has both of these genes, they will be in conflict with each other, and the organism won't know which one should prevail. This can cause problems for the organism because it is confused about what it should do.
