Introjection

Introjection is when you take in an idea or rule from another person, like your parents or teachers, and make it part of your own way of thinking. It's like copying someone else's way of thinking, and when you do this, it feels like it's your own idea or rule. For example, if your parents tell you that "you need to get good grades if you want to be successful," you might take that message and make it your own. This means that you would believe that you need to get good grades, because you've taken in the idea from your parents and made it your own.
