ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Inverter

Dear little one, have you ever seen a flashlight? It usually has batteries inside that make the lightbulb turn on and give us light. Now, how about we imagine that instead of a flashlight, we have something bigger like a car or a computer that needs a lot more power to work. That's where an inverter comes in!

An inverter is like a special helper that turns low voltage (the kind of power that comes from batteries) into high voltage (the kind of power that comes from outlets in the wall). It does this by changing the DC (direct current) electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity.

So, let's say we need to use a computer in a place where there are no wall outlets, like outside in the park. We can use an inverter to connect the computer to a battery, and then the battery to the inverter. The inverter changes the low voltage from the battery to high voltage like the kind of power we get from wall outlets. Then, we can plug the computer into the inverter and it will work just as if it were plugged into the wall!

In summary, an inverter is a helper that changes low voltage DC electricity into high voltage AC electricity, so we can make things work when there are no power outlets available.
