ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Involuntary commitment

Involuntary commitment is when someone is made to go to a hospital or other place for care, usually against their will. It usually happens when a person has a mental health problem and is thought to be a danger to themselves or others. It is usually done by a court order. The court decides if the person is a threat, and if so, the court orders the person to go get help.
