Iraq prison abuse scandals

The Iraq prison abuse scandals were a series of incidents involving the mistreatment of prisoners by United States military personnel in Iraq from 2003 to 2004. People in the military were accused of being cruel and unfairly punishing the prisoners they were in charge of. This included things like physical abuse, humiliation, and torture. These actions were wrong and deeply hurtful to the prisoners subjected to them. The US government apologized for these acts and it was agreed that those involved should be punished for their actions. As a result, a number of people were discharged or demoted.
