Iraq–United States relations
So there was a country called Iraq and there was another country far away called the United States. They used to be friends a long time ago but then they had a big fight and stopped being friends.
The fight was about some important things like who should be in charge of Iraq and how the people there should be treated. The leader of Iraq was not very nice to some of his own people and the leader of the United States did not like that.
After the fight, the United States and some of its friends went to Iraq and tried to help make things better. They wanted to help the people there have a better life and be treated fairly. But it was really hard work and sometimes things got even worse instead of better.
The relationship between Iraq and the United States has been up and down ever since, with some people in both countries still disagreeing on what happened and what should have been done differently.
