ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Irish feudal barony

Ok kiddo, so a long, long time ago in Ireland, the land was divided up into big areas called baronies. These baronies were a way for the important people, like kings and lords, to organize and control the land.

Each barony had a lord who was in charge of it. The lord would have lots of people who lived on the land and did work for him. These people were called peasants, and they would farm the land and give some of the crops to the lord.

The lord was like a boss who made the rules for the people who lived on his land. He could also punish them if they broke the rules.

But the lord didn't just rule over the peasants - he also had other important people who helped him run things. These people were called knights, and they were like the lord's soldiers who protected the land from enemies.

So that's what an Irish feudal barony was - a big area of land with a lord who was in charge, lots of peasants who worked on the land, and knights who helped protect it.
