Irish presidential election

Hi there! So in Ireland, they have a person called the President who is like the boss of the whole country. But every now and then, they have to pick someone new to be the President. That's called an election.

In the Irish Presidential Election, lots of people get to vote and choose who they want to be their new President. It's a bit like choosing a captain for a football team.

But before they can just pick anyone, there are some rules. For example, the person who wants to be President has to be at least 35 years old and have some experience in important jobs like politics or law.

So when the election comes around, if you are 18 or older, you can go to a special place and pick who you want to be the new President. You do this by putting a tick or a cross next to the name of the person you like the most.

Once all the votes are counted, the person who gets the most votes becomes the new President of Ireland. They have to promise to work hard and be a good leader for everyone who lives there.

So that's what an Irish Presidential Election is all about - it's when the people of Ireland get to choose who their new boss will be!
