ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ironing

Ironing is when you use a special tool called an iron to remove wrinkles and make clothes look smooth. Imagine you have a drawing and it's all crumpled up because you carried it in your backpack. When you try to smooth it out with your hands, it still has lines and bumps. Ironing helps to get rid of those lines and make it look nice and neat.

To use an iron, you need to plug it in and wait for it to heat up. Once it's hot, you can start using it on your clothes. You need to be careful because the iron can get really hot and burn your skin. You also need to make sure you're ironing on the right temperature for your clothes so you don't accidentally damage them.

To iron, you place the clothing item on a flat surface, like an ironing board, and use the iron to press down on the fabric. You move the iron back and forth over the fabric, smoothing out any wrinkles or lines. You might keep adjusting the clothing item to make sure you're ironing all the parts that need it.

Some people might use water to help dampen the fabric before ironing. This can help the iron work better and get rid of more wrinkles.

Overall, ironing is a way to make clothes look better and more put together. It takes some practice to do it well, but it's a helpful skill to know!
