ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Islam and war

Islam is a religion that teaches people to be peaceful and help others. War is when two or more groups of people fight with each other.

In Islam, going to war is allowed only when there is a just cause. This means that Muslims can defend themselves or others from those who want to hurt them or take away their rights. For example, if someone is being attacked or their property is being taken by force, then it would be okay to defend themselves.

When Muslims go to war, they are supposed to follow some rules. These rules are called the rules of war or the laws of war. These rules say that Muslims cannot hurt innocent people, like children or women. They also cannot destroy things that are important, such as hospitals or homes.

Islam also teaches that peace is always better than war. Muslims are always encouraged to find peaceful solutions to problems before going to war. This is because war can be very dangerous and can hurt many people.

In summary, Islam allows for war when there is a just cause, but Muslims are expected to follow rules and only fight if necessary. Peaceful solutions are always preferred over war.
