Islamic insurgency in the Philippines
There are some people in the Philippines who practice a religion called Islam, which is different from the religion that most people in the Philippines practice, which is called Catholicism. Some of the Muslim people in the Philippines feel like they haven't been treated fairly and that they don't have the same rights as other people in the country.
Because of this, they have formed groups that want to rebel against the Philippine government and create their own independent Muslim state in parts of the country. This is called an insurgency, which basically means a rebellion or uprising against the government.
