Israel

Israel is a small country in a part of the world called the Middle East. It is a very special place because a long, long time ago, it was a holy land for the Jewish people, which means it was very important to them. The Jewish people who live in Israel now are called Israelis, and they still believe that it is their homeland. In 1948, after a great deal of fighting and struggle, the country of Israel became officially independent. People from all over the world, especially Jewish people, moved to the new country of Israel to try and make it their home. Today, it is a modern country with a strong government, many cities, and a strong connection to its past and culture. The Israeli people are proud of their country and the special place it has in the world.
