ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

J. B. S. Haldane

J.B.S. Haldane was a man who lived a long time ago and was very smart. He studied science and learned a lot about how things work in the world. One of the things he was most interested in was how animals and plants change over time.

He came up with a theory called "evolution" that says over millions of years, plants and animals change and become different from their ancestors. This happens because certain traits, or things that make them different, are passed down from parents to their children.

He also studied how different kinds of animals could survive in different environments. For example, some animals have really good eyesight to help them find food or avoid danger, while others have sharp teeth and claws to catch their prey.

Haldane was so smart that he even helped people during World War II by using his knowledge of science to make bombs more effective! And even though he lived a long time ago, his ideas about evolution and genetics are still important to scientists today.
