Long ago, Jakarta wasn't called Jakarta. It was called "Sunda Kelapa" and was a small fishing village. Over time, people started to come and live there and it grew into a big city. There were a lot of different groups of people who lived in Jakarta, such as the Dutch, who came to trade and eventually colonize the area.

The Jakarta History Museum has lots of things that tell the story of this history. There are old maps that show how the city has changed over time. There are also antique weapons and traditional clothing from different eras that you can look at and learn about.

Inside the museum, there are also displays showing what people's homes looked like back then. You can see what people ate, how they cooked, and what kind of tools they used. There are also displays that show what schools and classrooms looked like.

One of the most interesting parts of the museum is a section that shows how people used to get punished when they broke the law. There are lots of different kinds of punishments, such as being forced to wear a wooden collar or having your head locked in a cage.
