Okay Kiddo, so you know how Mama and Papa can sometimes disagree on things? Like Mama may want spaghetti for dinner, but Papa wants pizza instead. Well, politicians do the same thing!
In Germany, there are three big political groups - the Christian Democratic Union, the Social Democratic Party, and the Free Democratic Party. But, no one party has enough people to control everything themselves, so sometimes they team up with each other to make decisions together.
The Christian Democratic Union and the Free Democratic Party teamed up after the last election to form what's called a "Jamaica Coalition." This is because their party colors match the colors of the Jamaican flag - black, green, and yellow.
Just like how Mama and Papa compromise on which dinner they're going to have, the politicians in the Jamaica Coalition compromise on what policies they're going to support. This way, even though no one party has enough power to control everything, they can still work together to make decisions that everyone can agree on.
Does that make sense, Kiddo?
