ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

James Frazer

James Frazer was a man who lived a long time ago and was very interested in studying people from different cultures and their beliefs. He thought it was important to learn about how people believed in things that they couldn't see or prove, like gods, ghosts, and magical powers.

He wrote a big book called "The Golden Bough" that talked about how people in different parts of the world believed in these things and how their beliefs changed over time. He found that many people used rituals and ceremonies to try to control these powerful forces and make them do what they wanted.

Some people thought that Frazer was very smart and his book helped them understand more about other cultures. But others didn't like his ideas and said he was wrong about some things. Either way, James Frazer was an important person who helped us learn more about the world and the different ways people think and believe.
