Jan Dzierżon

Jan Dzierżon was a very smart man who lived a long time ago in Poland. He was very interested in studying bees and how they lived together in a big group called a colony.

Jan Dzierżon noticed that bees had different jobs to do in the colony. Some bees would collect nectar from flowers and make honey, while others would take care of the baby bees or defend the colony from danger.

Jan Dzierżon also discovered something very important about how bees reproduce. He found out that one queen bee would lay all the eggs in the colony and that the baby bees would grow up to have different roles in the colony depending on what they were fed.

Jan Dzierżon wrote many books about bees and his discoveries helped people understand more about how bees live and why they are important for the environment. Today, we still study and learn from Jan Dzierżon's discoveries about bees!
