Japanese expansionism

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have a toy box and you really like some of the toys in it. But then you start to feel like you want more toys and you want to be in charge of the whole toy box. That's kind of what Japan felt like back in the early 1900s.

Japan wanted to grow and become more powerful, so they started looking at other countries and decided they wanted to take over some of them. They thought that by doing this, they could get more resources for themselves and be in control of more things.

So, they started invading and attacking other countries like China and Korea. This was called "Japanese expansionism". It means that Japan was expanding its borders and trying to take over more territory.

At first, Japan was successful in their efforts and they thought they were doing a good thing. But eventually, other countries started to get upset and they didn't like Japan's aggressive behavior.

Eventually, Japan's expansionism led to them getting involved in World War II and things didn't go very well for them. In the end, Japan was defeated and they learned that it's not okay to take over other countries and be too aggressive.
