Japanese urban legends

Okay kiddo, so you know how some stories people tell are not always true? Like how there's no such thing as monsters under your bed? Well, in Japan there are some scary stories that people tell that are not true but still make people feel afraid. These scary stories are called urban legends.

Now, one of the most well-known Japanese urban legends is called "Kuchisake-Onna." This one is about a woman who wears a mask to cover her mouth, and she will ask people if they think she's pretty. But if they say no, she will take off her mask and show that her mouth is all cut up, and then she will ask them again if they think she's pretty. Many people believe this one isn't true, but it's still a scary thought.

Another urban legend is called "Hanako-san." This one is about a girl who died in a school bathroom and her ghost haunts the bathroom area. If you go into a specific bathroom stall and say her name three times, she will appear to you. People say she may appear as a scary ghost, or she may just offer you a game to play. Most people also believe this one isn't true, but it's still creepy to think about a ghost hanging out in the bathroom.

Overall, urban legends are just stories that people tell each other to make them scared. They can be creepy and scary, but they're not real. So don't worry, there's no need to be afraid of these stories.
