Japanese work environment

The Japanese work environment is a combination of traditional and modern customs. In Japan, employees usually work long hours and many employers expect you to be available outside of work hours. People are very focused on getting their work done and expect loyalty from workers. The traditional hierarchical structure of the workplace means that older employees are expected to take the lead, and younger employees must show respect for their seniors. Working hard is considered very important in Japan, so you might be expected to work late or on weekends. Communication is key to success in the workplace, so people from different backgrounds will be expected to collaborate and work together. Additionally, teamwork and group activities are very important in Japanese work environments, as they help to create a sense of unity and harmony.
