ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jewish Publication Society

The Jewish Publication Society is like a big club that makes books for people who want to learn more about Jewish history, religion, and culture. It's like when you and your friends make a club to talk about your favorite things, but instead of it being just for fun, the Jewish Publication Society is very serious and works very hard to make sure their books are accurate and helpful.

The club was started a long time ago, in 1888, by a group of people who wanted to make Jewish books that were easy to read and understand. They wanted to help people who didn't know much about Judaism to learn more, and also to create books that would help Jewish people stay connected to their history and traditions.

Since then, the Jewish Publication Society has made lots and lots of books. They make books about the Bible and the Torah (which is like the Jewish holy book), books about Jewish history and culture, and books about Jewish holidays and traditions. They try to explain everything in a way that anyone can understand, no matter how old they are.

The Jewish Publication Society is still going strong today, and lots of people all over the world read their books. By making books that are easy to understand and that teach people about Jewish history, religion, and culture, they help people connect with their roots and learn more about each other.
