Jewish Temple of Leontopolis

Okay kiddo, let me explain what the Jewish Temple of Leontopolis is all about.

You know how Jews have a special place to worship called a temple? Well, a long, long time ago, there was a temple in Jerusalem where Jews used to go to pray and offer sacrifices to God. But unfortunately, the temple was destroyed by the Romans in the year 70.

Now, some Jews did not want to give up on their worship and wanted to have a new temple. So, they built a new one in a city called Leontopolis, which is in Egypt. This temple was built to be a replacement for the one in Jerusalem.

But here's the thing, kiddo. Not all Jews agreed on this. Some thought that the only place a temple could be built was in Jerusalem. So, there was some disagreement and conflict between these groups.

Despite the disagreements, the temple in Leontopolis was used for a long time for Jewish worship. However, today, it no longer exists, and no temples have been built to replace the one in Jerusalem.

That's the story of the Jewish Temple of Leontopolis in a nutshell, kiddo!
